Gooood evening!
Tonight I celebrated Sinterklaas (a traditionally Dutch holiday) with my family (= parents, sisters and wannabe-brother-in-law). And I received a few gifts which are definitely coming with me to London! I got stickers to stick on my grey suitcase, so it will look nicer (though I don't know whether Crazy Frog stickers will really make my suitcase look nicer...)
Also I got a book with all the must-sees and tips to visit when in London, which I will use for sure (:
AAAAAAAAAAAND.
I GOT A TICKET FOR WICKED <333
I'm sooooo happy about that :D I just don't know where my seat is... I hope it's somewhere good!
So, what's this 'families' bit about? Well, my dad finally received an answer from his formerly-mentioned friend Tom, and Tom said that he and his wife are willing to accomodate me when I'm in London!
Which means: all that's really left for me to do is confirm with Tom and book a planeticket! Which shouldn't be too hard.. :P

Update..
So, not much has happened since my last post.
I've received a confirmation email from MOM and one will also be send to me, so I can include it when handing in my permission slips and info.
Also, my dad emailed his friend, Tom, in London with the question if he has any friends in London who would be willing to take me in for two weeks. Tom ís willing to take me in, but he doesn't know where he'll be living in May, so he can't promise me anything.
I've also been browsing the web to see if there are any nice ho(s)tels or whatsoever. I've also found some hostfamily agencies (you know, host families sign up and you can pick one, but it costs money of course), which might be an option if I can't get a host family via someone I know.
So, if you know anyone nice in London who couldn't live without having this chick live with them for two weeks, tell me! :D

ME SO HAPPY!
Helloooooo dear readers!
I'M SO EXCITED!
About... one and a half hour ago, I was in geography class, sitting next to my friend Alex, who owns an iPhone. So I asked: "Hey, can I check my email on your phone?" And he said: "Sure!"
So that's what I did AND GUESS WHAT!?
I had received an email from Michael O'Mara telling me I can have my work experience at their company!!!
I'M SO HAPPY! :D
So, I'm going to LONDON and I'm going to be at a book publisher for TWO WEEKS! :D
Soooo, all that's left for me to do is find a place to crash at night, book a ticket, and I'm all set!
Gosh, I really can't wait to get on the plane <3

Michael O'Mara Books!
Helloooo again,
Okay, some days ago I explained to you that I had also received an email from Michael O'Mara books which I thought was kind of confusing. So I asked if I could get some clarification/explanation, hoping it would make me understand better what the woman was trying to tell me, and today I received an answer:
They are not taking on anyone anymore for 2011 (but I wasn't looking for a placement in 2011 anyway, so that's alright!). They however have a few people booked for 2012, but if I emailed what dates would be best for me, she'll try to fit me in!!!
So, I sent another reply with the dates and right now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed!
I'll keep you posted,
PS. Just to get in the 'LONDON-mood', I've found this absolutely hilarious song about the London Underground. Enjoy it!

Why this blog?
Hello there!
I am Christa and at this night and in this hour, I decided to start blogging.
You're asking me why?
Well, in May 2012 I'll be going abroad to have a work experience. And I wanted to keep track of everything I will be doing when on that work experience and on the road to it, for myself and anyone else who wants to read about it.
This work experience is a part of the internationalization process that I agreed to be part of when I chose for bilingual education. Also, it is obligatory in order to take (and hopefully pass) my English A-level IB exam!
The work experience is like a two weeks internship and is ought to be in an English-speaking environment. I have to find a placement and a host family myself and I have until February 1st to do so!
The city I desire to go to: London!
I just loooove London! I've been there now three times, but when you add it all up, it was only for five days in total. So I just can't wait to spend TWO FULL WEEKS in LONDON <3
As for the work experience itself: the first thing that popped into my mind was a work experience at a book publisher. You see, I just love love love books and I also kinda love writing, so it would only be right for me to have this work experience at a book publisher!
Right now, three companies/people (out of the 18 people I mailed!) replied my emails and they sounded pretty much positive.
The first one to answer me was someone from Hackney Pirates (which isn't actually a book publisher, but more of a charity organization, I think)! That was last Tuesday. Of course, I was all happy and smiley, because she was the first one to answer me since I started emailing people in August!
The woman was actually quite positive, but she did want to call me first, and that phone call is probably going to take place somewhere in the upcoming week.
But then, totally unexpected, on Wednesday I received an answer from the publishing house of the Royal College of Nursing, which I had been able to contact because my dad has a friend who came up with this option. But they only offered one week...
THEN, I received another reply, also on Wednesday, and this one was from Michael O'Mara Books! I had actually tried to call MOM on Monday (because in October I'd received a reply which said I should email again in November which was when they'd start scheduling work experiences, but they hadn't replied after a week, so I thought I'd give them a call), but no one answered. And BAM, Wednesday I received an email. It was from a different person though, because apparently they had some change in staff.
I actually think the email I received was a little (or actually quite much) vague. So I guess I'll have to send another reply to get some clarification, if they don't answer the other reply I sent.
And here we are now. I'm really excited to see where this all is heading and I can't wait to find out where I'll actually have my work experience in May, because right now, I have no idea where I'll end up.
I'll keep you posted,
PS. today I finally bought my OWN suitcase to travel with me :D I'm so happy ^^
